(a) There shall be a task force to evaluate current best practices and make recommendations to strengthen regional theatre equity. The task force shall include, but not be limited to, an examination of the following: (i) how to expand current available funding structures specific for local and regional theatres to provide awards based on operational needs; (ii) maintenance and operational costs of regional theatres, and regional funding gaps; (iii) how to promote community engagement; and (iv) economic drivers for local and regional theatres.\r\n(b) The task force shall consist of the secretary of economic development, or their designee, who shall serve as chair; the executive director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, or their designee; the chairs of the joint committee on tourism, arts and cultural development, or their designees; and 5 members appointed by the Governor, 3 of whom shall be directors of local theatres, 2 of whom shall be directors of regional chambers of commerce.\r\n(c) The task force shall submit a report of its findings, including any recommendations or proposed legislative or regulatory language necessary to carry out its recommendations, to the clerks of the house of representatives and the senate, the house and senate committees on ways and means, and the joint committee on aging and independence not later than December 31, 2026.\"\r\n"}
