Senate, April 2, 2020 -- The committee on Senate Ways and Means to whom was referred the message from His Excellency the Governor recommending legislation to authorize the waiver of the one-week waiting period for unemployment benefits (accompanied by bill, Senate, No. 2598), - reported, in part, a "Bill providing additional support to those affected by the novel coronavirus through the unemployment insurance system" (Senate, No. 2618).

Emergency Preamble

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to forthwith make certain changes in unemployment insurance in response to a public health emergency, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
