Senate President Calls For Public Input On First Bust Honoring A Woman In The Senate Chamber

On February 14 ,2024 a permanent bust of African American orator, writer, abolitionist, politician, and freedom fighter, Frederick Douglass, took its place in the Massachusetts State Senate chamber. This leaves one empty spot in the Chamber and to increase representation throughout the State House, Senate President Karen Spilka is asking for residents to submit names of an influential woman with ties to Massachusetts who has made historic and defining contributions to the Commonwealth and the country.
