The 193rd General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

AN ACT DESIGNATING CERTAIN BRIDGES UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IN THE TOWN OF RAYNHAM AND THE CITY OF TAUNTON.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to designate forthwith certain bridges in the town of Raynham and the city of Taunton, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. The bridge on United States Highway Route 44 spanning the Forge river in the town of Raynham shall be designated and known as the Donald L. McKinnon bridge in recognition of Donald L. McKinnon’s distinguished military service during the Korean War and his 39 years of service as a member of the board of selectmen in the town of Raynham, the longest serving selectman in the town’s history. The highway division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department and as authorized by the Federal Highway Administration.

SECTION 2. The bridge on State Highway Route 140, spanning the Three Mile river in the city of Taunton shall be designated and known as the Robert W. Studley Bridge in recognition of Robert W. Studley’s 32 years of distinguished service as a city councilor in the city of Taunton, the longest serving city councilor in the city’s history. The highway division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
