Representative Steven Ultrino Democrat - 33rd Middlesex

Steve Ultrino is the State Representative for the 33rd Middlesex District and currently serves as a Ward 2 Malden City Councilor. He was first elected to the City Council in 2012 and was a School Committee Member for eight years prior to that. Ultrino has fought hard for the right of Malden children to receive the highest quality instruction. He has also secured millions of dollars of infrastructure improvement for Ward 2. Ultrino has been active in his community for over thirty years. He served sixteen years as President of the St. Rocco Society and seven years as a board member and past Chairman of the Malden YMCA. Currently, he serves on the Board of Monsignor Neagle Housing Association and is a member of the Malden Kiwanis. He is a lifetime member of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees and was recognized across the Commonwealth for his service and doctoral research in 2013 .

A graduate of Malden Catholic High School, Ultrino earned his B.A. in U.S. History and Secondary Education from Suffolk University, a M.S. in Adult and Organizational Learning from Suffolk University, a C.A.G.S. in Educational Leadership from Emmanuel College and went on to earn an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Governance from Nova Southeastern University. He served as the Director of Education for the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, where he worked to educate, retrain and repurpose inmates to reduce their rate of recidivism and help them become productive members of society upon their release from incarceration. Prior to working at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, he taught business and economics at Malden Catholic High School and served as school principal and business manager at St. Mary’s Parish in Winchester.
