This bill amends M.G.L. c. 118, ยง2 by mandating that the monthly assistance benefit for families increase every July 1st, beginning in 2025, by 25% until the benefit equals 50% of the federal poverty level for that sized family permanently. Additionally, the need standard and the payment amounts are to be increased by the amount of a clothing allowance in the month for which it is paid and by the rental allowance for households incurring a rent or mortgage expenses and not residing in public or subsidized housing.
