Credit checks for job applicants

This legislation would bar most employers from running credit checks on job applicants or asking about credit standing during the hiring process. Exemptions include: (a) employers required by state or federal law or regulation to run a credit check on job applicants and (b) people applying for or holding a position that requires national security clearance An employer may not retaliate against an employee or applicant for reporting a violation of this section.
