An Act to establish a perinatal behavioral health care workforce trust fund
By Ms. Miranda, a petition (accompanied by bill, Senate, No. 1411) of Liz Miranda and John F. Keenan for legislation to establish a perinatal behavioral health care workforce trust fund. Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery.
The trust fund addresses mental and behavioral health needs of individuals during pregnancy and up to a year postpartum. The Secretary of Health and Human Services will administer the funds through grants to expand educational and training programs. These grants will prioritize programs serving medically underserved populations and areas with significant disparities in perinatal health outcomes. The Secretary will also be required to make an annual public report on the impact of this bill on healthcare shortages and the sustainability of the perinatal mental and behavioral health workforce.
