This bill implements recommendations of the 2019 Special Commission to Study Pancreatic Cancer to improve patient outcomes, facilitate early detection, and better support patients with pancreatic cancer. The bill establishes a comprehensive pancreatic cancer initiative within the Department of Public Health to provide coordinated pancreatic cancer prevention, screening, education, and support programs; requires DPH to conduct a study on pancreatic cancer incidence rates and patient needs in the Commonwealth; and requires state agencies to review and update current insurance coverage requirements for pancreatic cancer testing and screening.
