Bill Information

Presenter:
John J. Cronin

The bill introduces the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact, designed to enable dentists and dental hygienists to practice across state lines more easily among member states. By joining the compact, states permit professionals who hold valid licenses in one member state to practice in another without obtaining a separate license, provided they meet specific criteria such as holding a qualifying license, completing a clinical assessment, and fulfilling any local jurisprudence requirements. The compact additionally offers provisions for military members and their spouses, allowing for reduced or waived commission fees when exercising compact privileges.

To manage the compact, the bill establishes the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact Commission. The bill further ensures interoperability among states' licensure standards while allowing states to maintain independent licensure agreements that do not conflict with the compact.
