The Physical Therapy Licensure Compact (PTLC) allows licensed physical therapists and assistants to practice across participating states while maintaining state regulatory control and setting uniform standards for licensure, discipline, and education. It is governed by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission, which oversees implementation, enforces rules, and manages a centralized data system for sharing licensure and disciplinary information. The compact includes procedures for rule making, dispute resolution, enforcement, and withdrawal, and becomes effective once adopted by ten states, with amendments requiring approval from all member states.
