An Act to protect consumers of tickets
By Mr. Collins, a petition (accompanied by bill, Senate, No. 191) of Nick Collins for legislation to protect consumers of tickets by employing a paperless ticketing system that gives the consumer an option at the time of initial sale to purchase the same paperless tickets in transferable form that the consumer can transfer at any price. Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure.
This bill provides consumers with a choice when purchasing event tickets. Under current law, ticket sellers can include restrictive terms at checkout that effectively force buyers to accept non-transferable tickets if they want access to the event. The proposed changes could ensure that ticket buyers have the option to choose between transferable and non-transferable tickets without incurring additional fees or facing discrimination based on how the ticket was obtained.
It also protects the rights of ticket sellers by allowing them to restrict transferability in specific cases, including charity events and private functions.
