Bill Information

Presenter:
Nick Collins
The bill amends Chapter 146 of the General Laws governing pipefitting. It updates definitions and adds regulatory requirements for heating and cooling technologies, such as geothermal heat pumps, hydrogen systems, microreactors, and small modular reactors, bringing this work under the pipefitting license. It also introduces a definition for "Residential/Light Commercial Refrigeration" and requires licensing for technicians working on systems with capacities under ten tons. The collected fees will fund inspectors enforcing these new regulations. The act becomes effective immediately upon passage.
