This bill would create a pilot program for fare free buses at the MBTA and within each RTA across the commonwealth. The pilots would be overseen by diverse groups of transit staff, advocates, and local officials. The pilot advisory groups would track data on ridership, access, rail use, system efficiency, revenue impacts, impacts on bus driver safety, and other relevant areas. The pilots would commence not later than December of 2026.
