Vacancy in the office of Mayor of New Bedford

Amends the process prescribed in the New Bedford city charter for filling a mayoral vacancy. A vacancy occurring prior to the final 12 months of a term would be filled by an election. A vacancy within the final 12 months of the term would be filled by a city councilor elected by the full council. If the city council fails to hold an election within 30 days of the vacancy, the council president would automatically become acting mayor.
