Special Town Meeting
Requires the Andover Select Board to call a resident-petitioned Special Town Meeting within 90 days of receiving a petition with the signatures of at least 200 registered voters or 5% of the town's registered voters, whichever is greater. Current law (MGL ch.39 s.10) requires that Special Town Meeting to take place within 45 days and upon the signature of 200 voters or 20% of the town, whichever is fewer. These changes do not impact the Select Board's ability to call a Special Town Meeting upon a majority vote of the Board and is narrowly focused on Special Town Meetings petitioned for by residents.
