This bill establishes a framework to strengthen workforce development in Massachusetts public schools by promoting the attainment of industry-recognized certifications. Under the legislation, the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development is required to provide the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education with an annually updated, ranked list of high-demand occupations. These occupations must either require an industry-recognized certification or demonstrate improved employment prospects when such certifications are obtained.
