The Executive Office of Elder Affairs is normally the state agency tasked with ensuring that Massachusetts elders are protected from abuse and harm, but unfortunately, the agency's authority does not extend to a number of specific settings elders might reside, like prisons and jails, group homes, or other non-traditional housing. This bill expands EOEA's authority to conduct investigations even in these less common settings and ensure that ALL elders in Massachusetts have protection from abuse.
