Farragut Park

Officially names Farragut Park after an American Civil War hero, Admiral David G. Farragut. Admiral Farragut among other achievements served in the United States Navy at just 11 years old during the War of 1812 and went on to lead the successful attack on the Confederates at the Battle of Mobile Bay in the American Civil War with his famous order “damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!” Further, the bill renames one of the playing fields after longtime South Boston youth and Park League football coaches, Walter Rosher and Gerard McCarthy.
