Status:
Referred to Senate Committee on Ways and Means
This bill would require MassHealth to provide at least 12 months of uninterrupted coverage for children enrolled in the program. While Massachusetts has one of the highest rates of coverage for children in the nation, gaps in coverage due to factors such as fluctuation in family income and lost paperwork continue to be a problem. MassHealth eligibility protections required under the COVID-19 public health emergency have given families security in knowing their children have uninterrupted health coverage and are able to access needed care. As these protections come to an end, this bill is important to help ensure continuity of care, reduce administrative burden and promote health equity.
