Event Description

Eighth meeting of the PFAS Interagency Task Force to hear from Honorable Members of the Massachusetts Legislature With testimony from the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the Massachusetts State Senate.

The PFAS Interagency Task Force will hold its eighth meeting to review and investigate water and ground contamination of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances across the commonwealth on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021. The purpose of this meeting is to hear from Honorable Members of the Massachusetts legislature that have bills filed in the current legislative session (192nd, 2021-2022) relating to PFAS contamination the Commonwealth or have concerns about PFAS contamination in their district.

We will hear from the following testifiers: Senator Susan Moran, Plymouth and Barnstable, who will speak about her bill SB593, An Act to protect the Commonwealth from toxic chemicals; Senator Marc Pacheco, 1st Plymouth and Bristol who will discuss air contamination of PFAS Chemicals; Senator Joanne Comerford, Hampshire, Franklin & Worcester, who will discuss her bill SB1387, An Act restricting toxic PFAS chemicals in consumer products to protect our health; Senator Michael O. Moore, 2nd Worcester District; Representative Jack Patrick Lewis, 7th Middlesex District, who will discuss his two bills HB2348, An Act to ban the use of PFAS in food packaging & HB2350, An Act restricting toxic PFAS chemicals in consumer products to protect our health; Representative Kelly Pease (Task Force Member), 4th Hampden District, who will discuss his bill HB985 An Act studying the effect of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in commercial products.
