Event Description

The Senate Subcommittee on Chapter 250 of the Acts of 2024 will conduct a hearing in Room 222, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Subcommittee will hear invited testimony from experienced professionals and subject matter experts on certain legal and practical considerations related to the implementation of Chapter 250 of the Acts of 2024. Specifically, the Subcommittee will hear testimony on: (i) the current constitutionality of an audit of the Legislature conducted pursuant to Chapter 250 of the Acts of 2024; and (ii) Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (“GAGAS”).

The public is also invited to participate in this hearing. Advanced registration to present oral testimony is required of anyone other than the experts and professionals already invited. Please note that any member of the public who registers to give testimony must limit their remarks to the specific subject matter of the hearing: (i) the current constitutionality of an audit of the Legislature conducted pursuant to Chapter 250 of the Acts of 2024 and (ii) GAGAS. Those wishing to register to testify may do so by e-mailing Elizabeth Berman at Elizabeth.Berman@masenate.gov. The deadline to register is Tuesday, April 1 at 5:00 PM. Please include your name, address, and whether your testimony is on behalf of yourself or an organization. Participation will be limited as the portion of the hearing dedicated to public testimony is scheduled for 60 minutes. Should more people register than time can accommodate, they will be directed to submit written testimony.

The Subcommittee Chair will limit testimony of the public to 3 minutes per speaker. Please be advised that the schedule and agenda are subject to change at the discretion of the Chair.
