In June of 1985, the Portuguese-American Legislative Caucus with the leadership of Former State Representative Robert Correia of Seventh Bristol District founded the Heritage Day of Portugal. It was a way to recognize the contributions of Portuguese American individuals who strived to succeed making their communities and the Commonwealth a better place. Today, the event celebrates its 41st year under the Caucus leadership of Representative Antonio F. D. Cabral and Senator Michael J. Rodrigues.
