An Act honoring Blue Star Families recognizes law enforcement officers across Massachusetts who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of their communities. A special license plate will be made available to Blue Star Families out of respect for their loved one’s sacrifice. 

The details of the legislation are below.

Makes ‘Blue Star’ Plate Available. Creates a new distinctive vehicle registration plate featuring the words “Blue Star Family.” Parents, children, and spouses of a law enforcement officer who was killed in the line of duty would be able to select this as their license plate without any additional charge from the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV).
