HERStory

In 2019, Senate President Spilka launched the HERstory project to counteract a lack of representation, including of notable women, in State House art. Since then, the Senate President has released HERstory Volume 2 featuring women of color, and most recently, HER Story Volume 3: Disruptors and Trailblazers. In a building where portraits and statues depict the history of Massachusetts through the stories of many men, HERstory makes space for stories too often left untold — stories of women who lead, inspire, and push boundaries. HERStory Volume 3 is currently on display in the Senate President’s Ceremonial Office.
