Private Sector Labor Rights are established by the federal National Labor Relations Act. If the NLRA is dismantled, there are no protections in statute for private sector union organizing in Massachusetts. This legislation protects key aspects of the NLRA by enshrining them in Massachusetts law including, certification of pre-existing federally recognized unions, strike protections, guaranteed access to wage, hour, and benefit protections, electronic signatures for union card signing, written majority authorization for all newly formed unions, in-person and electronic union elections, a ban on captive audience meetings, protection from “right to work” policies.
