Tax deferral

This bill would delay the 16 percent interest rate on taxes that the elderly and active-duty military personnel have deferred from going into effect until one year after the elderly individual or active-duty personnel passes away. Currently, this interest rate goes into effect immediately when the deceased passes away. The one-year buffer will give heirs time needed to settle the deceased’s will, establish ownership of the estate, and sell the property.
