PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE

Date: Tuesday, April 7, 2026
Time: 11:00 am – 4:00pm
Location: Gardner Auditorium and Virtual

The second public meeting of the Special Legislative Commission to Study the Future of Payments and Sales Transactions by Credit Card and the Impacts for Small Businesses, established by Chapter 238 of the Acts of 2024, will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 11:00am - 4:00pm in Gardner Auditorium and on Microsoft Teams.

This public meeting, titled “Business and Consumer Perspectives” will provide an opportunity for small business owners, restaurant associations, retail groups, and consumer advocates to provide the commission with testimony relative to issues that impact them.

This public meeting will be streamed live on the https://malegislature.gov/ webpage.

Registration of Oral Testimony

The public is invited to participate in this virtual hearing. Advanced registration to present oral testimony is required. Those wishing to register must complete this form. Individuals who have registered to testify will receive further instructions on how to participate. The deadline to register is Monday, April 6^th at 11:00am. If all registered speakers are not heard by the end of the hearing, the Chairs may defer remaining testimony to a subsequent hearing. The Chairs will limit testimony to 3 minutes per speaker.

Written Testimony
Written testimony is encouraged and will continue to be accepted until July 31, 2026. Written testimony may be submitted electronically via e-mail to the following:  jointcmte-financialservices@malegislature.gov

For testimony submitted by email, please include “Future of Payments Commission Testimony” in the subject line of the email, as well as your name, address, phone number, and organization, if any, on the submitted testimony.
