Representative Mathew J. Muratore Republican - 1st Plymouth

Mathew Muratore, State Representative for the First Plymouth District, is in his third term in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He was first elected to the House in November 2014. He was a Plymouth Selectman from May 2010-January 2015 and served as Chairman of the Board from 2012-2014.

In the 2019-2020 legislative session, Rep. Muratore serves as ranking minority member of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development; ranking minority member of the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government; assistant ranking minority member of the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing; and a member of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight. He is also a member on the Skilled Nursing Facilities Task Force and the Oceans Advisory, Ocean Acidification, and the Northeast Fire Protection Commissions.

In 2019, Matt received the MASS Access Legislator of the Year Award. He was also recognized with the first annual Sam’s Award from To the Moon and Back for his advocacy in advancing the care and understanding of children born with substance exposure. Other honors he has received include the Legislator of the Year Award from the Arc of Greater Plymouth (2017), Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International (2017), and the Champion of Tourism Award from the Massachusetts tourism community (2017).

A Plymouth resident since 2001, Matt grew up on the South Shore and graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School. He is a graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in Business Management. Beginning his career as a nursing home administrator in 1991, Matt was the Administrator at Plymouth Rehabilitation and Health Care Center from 2003-January 2015 and is a member of the Massachusetts Senior Care Association. He is co-owner and operator of Crayon College in Plymouth, Kingston, and Bourne, and he is also a partner in a health care consulting company specializing in elder care.

Matt is active in various community organizations including Plymouth County Drug Abuse Task Force, Sunrise Rotary, the Plymouth Youth Development Collaborative, the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce and the Plymouth Networking Group for Seniors. Matt serves on the PACTV Board of Directors, The Plymouth Economic Development Foundation Board of Directors, and is a member of the BID-Plymouth Hospital Advisory Board.

Prior to his election to the Board of Selectmen, Matt was a member of the Advisory and Finance Committee and was Board Member and Chairman of the Plymouth Council on Aging. Matt has six daughters, and his wife Kristin is a local attorney.

The First Plymouth District comprises Precincts 2-8, 10, 12, 14 & 15 in Plymouth.
