Representative Timothy R. Whelan Served 2015 - 2022 Republican - 1st Barnstable

Began public service at the age of 19 years old working as a Correctional Officer, assigned to Maximum Security block of the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction. I then took a leave of absence in 1989 to join the United States Marine Corps Reserves, graduating from Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island South Carolina, later being assigned to Headquarters Company 25th Marines. I entered the Massachusetts State Police Academy in 1992, having served in uniformed patrol for virtually my entire career. My best years we're spent assigned to Commercial Vehicle Enforcement where I became a certified lead instructor in Hazardous Material transportation as well as Bulk Package transportation. At this point in my career I was traveling to other States to teach these courses on behalf of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. I also was assigned to the State Police Incident Management Team where I was fortunate to be trained in Incident Command and Homeland Security matters.
