MassEducate
As part of the FY25 budget, the legislature passed the Senate’s MassEducate Program to make community college free for all first-time degree earners in the state. Following signage by the Governor Healey, MassEducate went into effect Fall 2024
Highlights
- 75.5 million in new spending to cover tuition and fees for all residents.
- $1,200 stipend for books, supplies, and other costs for eligible students.
- Continued investment in free community college for nursing students and students over 25.
- $2.5 million Student Persistence Fund to hep colleges support low income students facing barriers to continuing their education like transportation and childcare.
- $14.7 million investment in the SUCCESS Program: Support Urgent Community College Equity through Student Services.
