Expanding ConnectorCare Eligibility
This FY24 Budget provision expanded eligibility for residents, allowing more individuals to access affordable health coverage.
Highlights
- The FY24 budget created a two-year ConnectorCare expansion pilot program to expand eligibility to 500 per cent of the Federal Poverty Limit (FPL), which is about $73,000 a year for an individual
- This provision resulted in 47,000 to 70,000 residents becoming eligible for more affordable coverage.
- ConnectorCare plans have low monthly premiums, low co-pays, and no deductibles.
- Expanding ConnectorCare eligibility helps bridge the gap for those who aren’t eligible for subsidized coverage under MassHealth, but also experience challenges affording insurance.
"The challenges in our health care landscape are vast, but the Health Connector is always striving to find new ways to make getting health coverage to our residents easier — they are a shining example of the great work that is possible in delivering accessible and affordable health care."
