AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE ELECTION OF THE CITY CLERK IN THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the current term of office for the city clerk of the city of Springfield shall expire on the first Monday in January in 2004, thereafter, the city council shall elect a city clerk for a term of six years and until a successor is qualified.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
