Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 3 of chapter 40 of the General Laws to the contrary, the board of selectmen of the town of Natick may lease, for a term not to exceed 99 years, including any extension or renewal terms, or convey the town-owned property at 5 Auburn street in the town of Natick, the site of the former Eliot Elementary School; provided, however, that the terms of any such lease or sale shall be approved by a subsequent town meeting. Any request for proposals issued by the board of selectmen for the sale or for the lease of 5 Auburn street shall provide an adequate mechanism for comparing the sale and the lease options.SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
