AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE RETIREMENT OF PENELOPE HARVEY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law or rule or regulation to the contrary, the Fairhaven school committee and the superintendent of schools for the town of Fairhaven may place Penelope Harvey on unpaid leave of absence from September 15, 2010 to September 30, 2010.
SECTION 2. Upon the approval of the unpaid leave of absence by the Fairhaven superintendent and school committee, the Massachusetts teachers' retirement board shall recalculate Penelope Harvey's retirement benefit to include the period of the full time leave of absence as full time creditable service. The recalculation of Penelope Harvey's benefit shall be retroactive to her effective date of retirement.
