AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF CHESTERFIELD TO CONTINUE THE EMPLOYMENT OF POLICE CHIEF GARY WICKLAND

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Gary Wickland, chief of the police department of the town of Chesterfield, may continue to serve in the position until June 30, 2015, until the date of his retirement or until the date he is relieved of his duties by the board of selectmen of the town of Chesterfield, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his office. The board of selectmen may, at its own expense, require that Gary Wickland be examined by an impartial physician to determine his capacity. No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of Gary Wickland under chapter 32 of the General Laws for any service subsequent to March 31, 2014, and upon retirement, he shall receive a superannuation retirement allowance equal to that which he would have been entitled had he retired on that date.
SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.

Approved, June 26, 2014.
