AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION IN THE CITY OF MEDFORD

      Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
      SECTION 1. The first sentence of section 3 of chapter 421 of the acts of 1958 is hereby amended by striking out the words “not exceeding fifty dollars”.
      SECTION 2.  Said section 3 of said chapter 421 is hereby further amended by adding the following 2 sentences:-  In addition to the power and authority granted to the traffic commission in this act, the traffic commission shall have exclusive authority, except as otherwise provided by this act, to adopt, amend, alter and repeal rules and regulations consistent with the General Laws relative to: (i) the parking of any vehicle in all public off-street parking areas in the city; (ii) the movement, stopping or standing of any vehicles in all public off-street parking areas in the city; and (iii) the exclusion of vehicles from any public off-street parking areas under the control of the city, including adopting rules and regulations pertaining to vehicles in public off-street parking areas.  The traffic commission may prescribe penalties for the violation of any rule or regulation adopted under this act.
      SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
