AC ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN ADMINISTRATOR OF THE TOWN OF SHERBORN TO APPROVE WARRANTS FOR THE PAYMENT OF TOWN FUNDS

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
The town administrator of the town of Sherborn shall be the fiscal officer of the town for the purpose of approving warrants for the payment of town funds prepared by the town accountant in accordance with the General Laws and submitted to the town administrator.  The approval of any such warrant by the town administrator shall be sufficient authority to authorize payment by the town treasurer; provided, however, that the board of selectmen of the town of Sherborn shall approve warrants for payment or reimbursement of the town administrator and warrants in the event of the absence of the town administrator or a vacancy in the office of the town administrator.
All warrants for payment shall be made available to the members of the board of selectmen at the same time the warrants are submitted to the town administrator.  Any member of the board of selectmen may discuss any matter that is on a warrant for payment with the town administrator and, if not satisfied that an item on a warrant is appropriate for payment, may ask the chair of the board of selectmen to place the matter on the next board of selectmen agenda; provided, however, that such meeting shall be held within 14 days after the warrant was issued.  At the meeting, the board of selectmen shall consider and may, to the extent permitted by law, vote to disapprove the item.  Any item for payment that is disapproved by the board of selectmen shall not be approved for payment by the town administrator.
