AN ACT INCREASING THE FINE FOR THE ILLEGAL TAKING OF EELS AND ELVERS

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Section 100D of chapter 130 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 7, the word “four” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- 9.
     SECTION 2.  Said section 100D of said chapter 130, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out the third paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
     A violation of the first paragraph shall be punished by a fine of not less than $100 or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days, or both. A violation of the second paragraph shall be punished by a fine of not less than $10,000 or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days, or both.
     SECTION 3.  Section 52A of chapter 131 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 20, the word “four” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- 9.
     SECTION 4.  Said section 52A of said chapter 131, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out the fourth paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
     A violation of the first or second paragraph shall be punished by a fine of not less than $100 or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days, or both. A violation of the third paragraph shall be punished by a fine of not less than $10,000 or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days, or both.
