AN ACT ESTABLISHING ATAXIA AWARENESS DAY

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Chapter 6 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out the words “Section 15UUUUU”, inserted by chapter 175 of the acts of 2014, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Section 15VVVVV.
     SECTION 2.  Said chapter 6 of the General Laws is hereby further amended by inserting after section 15VVVVV, inserted by said chapter 175 of the acts of 2014, the following section:-
     Section 15WWWWW.  The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart September 25 as Ataxia Awareness Day, in recognition of the thousands of individuals affected by hereditary and sporadic ataxia in the United States and the need for increased public awareness, research, prevention and support for victims and their families and recommending that the day be observed in an appropriate manner by the people.
