AN ACT ALLOWING CERTAIN SENIOR SUPPORT STAFF MEMBERS OF PROTECTION FIRE CO. NO. 1 BYFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS TO CONTINUE TO SERVE BEYOND THE AGE OF 65

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Robert Haynes, Wayne Reetz and Edward Stearns, who are senior support staff members of Protection Fire Co. No. 1 Byfield, Massachusetts, may each continue to serve in those capacities past age 65, until their dates of retirement or until the dates they are relieved of their duties by the board of fire engineers, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that each is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of their offices. The board of selectmen of the town of Newbury may require that the individuals be examined, at their own expenses, by an impartial physician designated by the board to determine their mental and physical capabilities. No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of the individuals under chapter 32 of the General Laws for any service subsequent to the date each individual reaches age 65.
