AN ACT REGARDING GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE FOR ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES AND RETIREES IN THE TOWN OF CARVER.

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the actions of the town of Carver and its board of selectmen with respect to health insurance and benefits provided to its employees or retirees after the town accepted section 10 of chapter 32B of the General Laws in 1966, and all actions pursuant thereto, are hereby ratified, validated and confirmed as if the town and its board had properly voted to approve the provision of health insurance benefits to its employees and retirees in accordance with law.
     SECTION 2.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Carver shall contribute 75 per cent of the cost of the premium for group health insurance coverage provided by the town to an eligible retiree who retires not later than June 30, 2025 and who elects coverage under the town’s group health insurance.
     SECTION 3.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Carver shall contribute 50 per cent of the cost of the premium for group health insurance coverage provided by the town to an eligible retiree who retires after June 30, 2025 and who elects coverage under the town’s group health insurance.
     SECTION 4.  Upon separation from employment with the town of Carver, an eligible retiree may elect at the time of separation of employment to continue to participate in the town’s group health insurance program, subject to the terms and underwriting conditions of the town’s in-force insurance providers.  An eligible retiree who fails to exercise the election opportunity within 30 calendar days of retirement shall have waived the right to participate in the town’s group insurance program.
     SECTION 5.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
