AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF WAREHAM TO LEASE CERTAIN LAND
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. This act shall allow for the creation of the Onset bay discovery center to be located at a rehabilitated Onset bathhouse to promote and enhance the use of the waters, shoreline and other natural resource areas of Buzzards bay for educational, recreational, environmental and other associated purposes.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the board of selectmen of the town of Wareham may enter into a 99-year lease with Buzzards Bay Coalition, Inc., pursuant to a previously issued request for proposals under section 16 of chapter 30B of the General Laws, which is on file with the board of selectmen of the town of Wareham, for the lease of the Onset bathhouse and surrounding grounds located on Onset avenue in the town of Wareham, as shown on the plan entitled “Lease Plan”, prepared by G.A.F. Engineering, Inc. and dated July 12, 2016, and being a portion of the commonwealth’s tidelands. The lease shall include the design, development, restoration, construction, maintenance, management and operation of the improvements to the Onset bathhouse and surrounding grounds to be made by Buzzards Bay Coalition, Inc. in accordance with the request for proposals; provided, however, that such improvements shall not be subject to chapter 149 of the General Laws. The terms and conditions of the lease shall be subject to the approval of the board of selectmen of the town of Wareham.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
