AN ACT PROVIDING FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE OFFICERS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENTER A SMOKING CESSATION PROGRAM PRIOR TO TERMINATION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
Section 101A of chapter 41 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “products”, in line 6, the following words:- ; provided, however, that prior to the termination of a police officer or firefighter for a violation of this section, the police officer or firefighter shall be provided with an opportunity to enter a smoking cessation program; provided further, that a subsequent violation may be cause for dismissal.
