AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF EASTHAMPTON TO LEASE CERTAIN REAL ESTATE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary but subject to paragraphs (a), (b) and (g) of section 16 of chapter 30B of the General Laws, the city of Easthampton acting by and through the city council and the mayor may enter into a long-term lease for a term not to exceed 44 years to facilitate the transformation of existing performance space into a dynamic, flexible, multi-function facility capable of serving theater groups, film, musical performances and to accommodate other public functions and to improve accessibility by installing a separate entrance with elevator access at the old town hall. The lease may provide that the lessee shall be responsible for the design, development, construction and maintenance of improvements to the site as may be outlined in the lease agreement. The parcel is shown as parcel 3 on map 51 on the city's assessors’ maps.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
