AN ACT FURTHER REGULATING THE APPOINTMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF THE TOWN TREASURER AND COLLECTOR OF THE TOWN OF ARLINGTON.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 8 of chapter 503 of the acts of 1952, as appearing in section 1 of chapter 434 of the acts of 2018, is hereby amended by striking out the words “, treasurer and town collector,”.
SECTION 2. The first paragraph of subsection (a) of section 15 of said chapter 503, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “Town Treasurer and Collector,”.
SECTION 3. The second paragraph of subsection (c) of said section 15 of said chapter 503, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- The town manager shall appoint upon merit and fitness alone the town's comptroller, who shall also be vested with the authorities of a town accountant, and the town treasurer and collector, subject to the approval of the select board.
SECTION 4. The second sentence of said second paragraph of said subsection (c) of said section 15 of said chapter 503, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “Comptroller” the following words:- and the town treasurer and collector.
SECTION 5. The first sentence of the third paragraph of said subsection (c) of said section 15 of said chapter 503, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “Comptroller” the following words:- or the town treasurer and collector.
SECTION 6. The second sentence of said third paragraph of said subsection (c) of said section 15 of said chapter 503, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “Comptroller” the following words:- or the town treasurer and collector.
SECTION 7. The first sentence of the fourth paragraph of said subsection (c) of said section 15 of said chapter 503, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “Comptroller” the following words:- and the town treasurer and collector.
SECTION 8. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
