AN ACT DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS OF THE WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL IN THE CITY OF BOSTON AS THE EDWARD J. MORRISSEY, JOHN J. MULLEN AND JOSEPH P. MURPHY MEMORIAL
Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to further regulate simulcasting, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
The plaza, gazebo and surrounding walkway at the World War II Memorial located at the Castle Island Reservation in the South Boston section of the city of Boston, under the care and control of the department of conservation and recreation, shall be designated in memory of: Edward J. Morrissey who served honorably in the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War, John J. Mullen who served honorably in the United States Marine Corps in World War II and Joseph P. Murphy who served honorably in the United States Navy in World War II. As a veteran, each served as a Commander of the Thomas J. Fitzgerald VFW Post 561 and advocated on behalf of other veterans and for the South Boston community.
The department shall install and maintain suitable markers on the granite monuments honoring past commanders, and at other appropriate locations, in compliance with the standards of the department.
