AN ACT PROVIDING CERTAIN RETIREMENT BENEFITS TO THE WIDOW OF POLICE CAPTAIN RICHARD BASTERI OF THE CITY OF EVERETT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding section 12 of chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, and in order to promote the public good, the retirement board of the city of Everett shall pay Michelle Basteri, the surviving spouse of Richard Basteri, former police captain of the city of Everett police department, retirement benefits as of March 31, 2020. The benefits shall be equal to that which would have been paid to her had Richard Basteri been retired for ordinary retirement as of March 31, 2020 and had elected to receive a retirement allowance under option (c) of subdivision (2) of section 12 of chapter 32 of the General Laws.

SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
