AN ACT AMENDING THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF ROCKLAND.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Clause (g) of subsection H of section C-2.02 of article II of the charter of the town of Rockland, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the words “Youth Commission” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Recreation Commission.

SECTION 2.  Subsection C of section C-2.06 of said article II of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “an Appraiser and an Assistant Assessor” and inserting in place thereof, the following words:- a Director of Assessing.

SECTION 3.  Said subsection C of said section C-2.06 of said article II of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “Appraiser and the Assistant Assessor” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Director of Assessing.

SECTION 4.  Said subsection C of said section C-2.06 of said article II of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the word “them” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- the Director of Assessing.

SECTION 5.  Section C-2.17 of said article II of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the first paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-

The board of selectmen by an affirmative vote of not less than 4 members shall appoint a town administrator for a term of not more than 3 years and may extend such appointment for additional terms of not more than 3 years.

SECTION 6.  Said section C-2.17 of said article II of said charter is hereby further amended by adding the following subsection:-

(d)  The board of selectmen may appoint an assistant town administrator to perform duties assigned by the town administrator. The assistant town administrator shall perform the duties of the town administrator in the town administrator’s absence.

SECTION 7.  Subsection (a) of section C-2.18 of said article II of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “at least 4” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- not less than 2/3 of its.

SECTION 8.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
