AN ACT CHANGING THE NAME OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN IN THE TOWN OF MASHPEE TO SELECT BOARD.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 1-3 of the charter of the town of Mashpee, which is on file with the archivist of the commonwealth as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:- Select Board.
SECTION 2. Subsection (e) of section 1-7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Select Board.
SECTION 3. Said section 1–7 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the definition of “Board of Selectmen:” and inserting in place thereof the following definition:-
Select Board. The words “Select Board” shall mean the board of persons referred to in the General Laws.
SECTION 4. Subsection (o) of said section 1-7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Select Board.
SECTION 5. Section 2-5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 6. Section 2-6 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 7. Section 2-7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 8. Section 2-11 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 9. Section 3-1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- Select Board.
SECTION 10. Subsection (h) of said section 3-1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “selectmen”, each time it appears, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board member.
SECTION 11. Subsection (h) of said section 3-1 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the word “selectmen”, the sixth time it appears, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board member.
SECTION 12. Section 3-2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the title and inserting in place thereof the following title:- Select Board.
SECTION 13. Said section 3-2 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- Select Board.
SECTION 14. Section 4-1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 15. Section 4-2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 16. Section 4-4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 17. Section 4-5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 18. Section 5-1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 19. Section 5-4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the title and inserting in place thereof the following title:- Review of Appointments by Select Board.
SECTION 20. Said section 5-4 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Select Board.
SECTION 21. Section 5-7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 22. Section 7-7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 23. Section 8-5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:– Select Board.
SECTION 24. Notwithstanding sections 21 and 32 of chapter 40 of the General Laws, section 5 of chapter 40A of the General Laws or any general or special law to the contrary, the select board of the town of Mashpee may amend the general by laws and zoning by-laws of the town by majority vote to revise all references to the board of selectmen and its members to select board and select board members respectively, in accordance with this act.
SECTION 25. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
